Viewpoint Productions is an independent documentary film producer. Our independence is our most precious endowment we hold on to when currents of ratings, channel profiling and program homogenization try to sweep us along.

We stand apart as a producer with a strong involvement throughout the filmmaking process, in the production as well as the content. We offer filmmakers our complete commitment and support to give form to their ideas, sometimes against the grain, but always with an eye for individuality. We believe in the value of a carefully considered plan, and this is why we invest a great deal of time and energy in the development phase. During production, that ends up paying off.

Ever since its foundation in 1991, Viewpoint Productions has been located in a spacious, loft-like building on the water in the north of Amsterdam. We're an intimate team of four full-timers and we work with a plethora of independent filmmakers. The directors who collaborate with us have striking visual skills, a very individual outlook on the world and a rich imagination. The choice to take on an idea is always a personal one; if it touches us, we embrace it.

Steering our own course, we make productions that offer new and surprising perspectives on various cultural and social themes, ones that can allow for a broadening of generally accepted ways of thinking. That our nonconformist way of working isn't a recipe for marginality can be seen in the fact that our productions garner audience appreciation again and again, both in the Netherlands and abroad.

In addition to documentaries, we also produce cross-media projects. At Viewpoint, content determines the choice for a given medium or combination of media. We look for the most appropriate form to address a subject, and get fantastic support from our partnerships with specialized companies and talents. Our productions run the gamut from publications to exhibitions, from live manifests to Internet projects.
