Eva Besnyö - The Choice Collection dir: Leo Erken DOCUMENTARY Art / History Leo Erken Born in 1964, Erken studied at AKI Art Academy in Enschede, the Netherlands from 1983 until 1988. From then on, he has been active as an independent (photo-) journalist based in Amsterdam. Leo Erken is well known for his photo series on developments in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. Since 1987, he has travelled more than 50 times to the region, reporting for major newspapers and magazines in and outside the Netherlands. His work has been published in de Volkskrant, Vrij Nederland, Het Parool, Libération, Le Monde, The Guardian, The Independent, Die Zeit and other media. For his Russia reports, he received such prizes as the Dutch Photojournalist of the Year award in 1993 and the Silver Camera in 1995. Eva Besnyö – The Choice Collection is his first documentary film.
